The Bonhoeffer House

The Founders of Oikos INTL, Alan and Michelle Murdock, have long had a desire to live in a home and community like Dietrich Bonhoeffer talks about in his book "Life Together."

The Bonhoeffer House, purchased by the Murdocks in April of 2023, was formerly a bread & breakfast lodge known as The Makapa Lodge. The lodge could pay for itself with regular visitors, but they wanted to use what God had given them in a radical way. 

The Murdocks invited 2 families (one family of 5, one family of 4) and 2 single young men that they had grown to know and love to join them at The Bonhoeffer House. Twice a week the families gather to share a meal and fellowship. But, there are daily interactions as well--sharing coffee, talking about the day or each family's budding gardens, sharing rides, taking kids to school, going to church and so much more. Three different nations (US, Malawi, South Africa) all living together in harmony!
